To delete backups in cPanel, follow these steps:

1. Log in to cPanel

  • Access your cPanel by logging in with your username and password provided by your hosting provider.

2. Locate the Backup Section

  • Scroll down to the Files section and click on Backup or Backup Wizard. Both options allow you to manage backups, though Backup Wizard simplifies the process.

3. Open File Manager for Manual Backup Deletion

  • Instead of using the Backup feature, go to File Manager (also under the "Files" section) to manually locate and delete backup files stored in your hosting space.
  • In the File Manager, navigate to the root directory (public_html) or another folder where backups are saved. Backup files often end in .zip, .tar, .gz, or .tar.gz extensions.

4. Select and Delete Backup Files

  • Locate the folder where backups are stored. In many cases, this could be inside the backup folder, or you may find them directly in home/username or another directory.
  • Select the backup files you want to delete by right-clicking on the file and choosing Delete or using the Delete option from the menu at the top.
  • Confirm the deletion in the popup, and you can choose to Skip Trash for a permanent deletion if needed.

5. Remove Backups from Backup Tools (Optional)

  • If you’ve used cPanel’s Backup or Backup Wizard for automated backups, navigate to the Backup section to check if any scheduled or existing backups are listed. You can delete or manage backups directly within these tools as well.

By following these steps, you can free up disk space by deleting unnecessary backups from your cPanel account.
